{"path":"specs/landing-redesign/requirements.md","content":"# Landing Redesign — Requirements\n\n**Date**: 2026-08-19 · **Status**: founder-decided structure (four Socratic decisions, recorded in `docs/research/site-declutter-directions.md`); editorial copy pending founder-voice pass.\n\n## The problem (founder verbatim)\n\"A curious visitor will likely not read everything on the site. Maybe the site is too cluttered with docs. It's too academic for most visitors.\" Research reframe: the site has no FIRST LAYER — ten seconds of triage currently land on a disabled input form.\n\n## Decided structure\n1. **The page is a derivation, not beats**: vision at top as generative root; every section visibly follows from it (\"Everything else follows from the vision and the convictions it's based on\").\n2. **Hero register: checking-vs-persuasion** — machines out-persuade us; Deliberus is checking built to keep pace. The threat sentence NEVER stands alone: pivot to invitation within the first screen.\n3. **The body is a CONVICTION LADDER, not one example** (founder revision, same session: \"The vision needs more than one concrete example and the checking-vs-persuasion thing can't be the only thing explained on the first page\"). The hero is only the DOORWAY; below it, 3-4 convictions each get one beginner-register line + one quirky identity-safe micro-example:\n   - **Opacity is a cost** (root conviction) → the thermostat war (the unwritten premise — \"whose comfort counts as the default?\" — is the cost made visible)\n   - **Knowing what KIND of disagreement you're in** (residue map) → pineapple on pizza (decomposes until it honorably ends in taste)\n   - **Different claims need different handling** (claim kinds) → grandma's car keys (a checked fact vs a non-vanishing value vs a promise-as-commitment — swapped in for the dog per spec decision 7: the ladder ascends in seriousness)\n   - optionally **A system that can confess** → one line + teaser toward the honesty page\n   The landing is, structurally, the public rendering of the Convictions-in-One-Breath block: few convictions, each one sentence, each grounded.\n4. **CTA: three doors** sized to the engagement gradient — 2 min: walk one map live (the thermostat descent) · 15 min: the introduction · ∞: the research garden. Real-debate proof (the occupation-crux walk) one click deeper for skeptics, never the hero.\n\n## Constraints\n- Beginner-readable first layer is a hard directive (CLAUDE.md § UX directives); no internal vocabulary above the fold.\n- Extraction is paused: no surface may promise live analysis; the form leaves the hero (returns when the key is financed).\n- All existing URLs and the agent-readable surface unchanged. Docs are credibility, framed never trimmed.\n- Design system: existing tokens + classes (`docs/design-guide.md`); glow never lift; warm-desaturated palette; \"the medium embodies the dialectic.\"\n- Copy passes the founder's voice guides before shipping (style guide + genre doc per the Fredrik-voice drafting rule).\n\n## Acceptance\n- A cold visitor can state, after one screen, WHAT is being claimed and WHY NOW.\n- The thermostat descent is walkable in the live UI with zero LLM spend (pre-stored synthetic extraction through the production path).\n- Every research doc remains reachable within two clicks of door three.\n"}
