Founder-flagged 2026-08-30 with a framing that goes far beyond the article.\n\n---\n\n## 1. The founder's framing, verbatim\n\n> \"This is super interesting as a meta-framing of why something like Deliberus could have such a\n> huge impact - it affects which stories are told and spread and thus culture and thus affects the\n> directionality of all of human society, and internal divisions/friction, since stories depend on\n> different interpretations of the same reality, both facts and values and really stories about\n> anything in reality, or stories about the nature of reality as well, which Deliberus could\n> eventually change in both subtle and not so subtle ways, if it starts working to create much more\n> mutual understanding of both world and fellow sentient beings and to enable coordination based in\n> realized non-zero sum games/dynamics and so on.\"\n\nAnd the article line he pulled: *\"Ledare bör utrustas med färdigheter att använda berättandets kraft\nför att förstå vilka berättelser som finns, varför de finns, var de kommer ifrån – och sedan ha\nförmågan att skapa och implementera nya berättelser.\"*\n\n## 2. What the article itself holds\n\nHorsley's claims, briefly: stories are how humans make meaning (*\"berättelser är sättet vi skapar\nmening\"*); shared narratives produce social cohesion, aligned narratives produce social\ntransformation; and — the load-bearing one — **narratives shape culture, not the reverse**\n(*\"berättelserna som formar kulturen, inte tvärtom\"*). Her leadership prescription is the quoted\nline: understand which stories exist, why, and where they come from, then be able to create and\nimplement new ones. No academic citations; practitioner register.\n\n## 3. The causal chain the founder is naming\n\nStories → culture → the directionality of society. If that chain holds even partially, then\nanything that changes **which stories survive and spread** operates upstream of culture itself. The\nfounder's claim is that Deliberus sits at exactly that junction, for a specific reason the article\ndoes not have: **stories are interpretations, and interpretations rest on claims** — about facts,\nabout values, about the nature of reality. A story is a rendering of a claim-structure with the\nseams hidden. Deliberus is a machine for making the seams visible.\n\nThree corpus threads converge here:\n\n- **The moral-reframing result** (Feinberg & Willer, in the academic foundations): the same policy\n  argued through *purity* rather than *harm* persuades a different worldview — and people recognise\n  a reframed argument as more persuasive once shown it, while rarely producing one themselves. A\n  reframing IS a re-telling: the same claim-structure narrated in another value vocabulary. The\n  worldview-lens mechanism is story-translation with the reasoning held constant.\n- **The scrutiny gap**: machine persuasion beats expert humans on *throughput*, and a story is the\n  highest-throughput persuasion vehicle there is — it carries conclusions past checking precisely\n  because narrative form hides the argumentative seams. *Checking that keeps pace with persuasion*\n  is, in this vocabulary, story-hygiene at the claim layer.\n- **The non-zero-sum synthesis**: the founder's own \"coordination based in realized non-zero sum\n  games\" — a discovered positive-sum arrangement needs a story to spread (nobody coordinates around\n  a payoff matrix), so the mutual-understanding layer FEEDS the story layer with material that did\n  not exist before: stories of dissolvable conflict that are checkably true.\n\n## 4. The boundary that keeps this honest\n\n**Deliberus does not tell stories, and must not.** The DeepMind steering result is precise about\nwhy: the facilitator that *restates* participants' positions shifts outcomes while being preferred\n— summarisation is the corrupting move, and a story is summarisation with momentum. Deliberus's\nruled register (show structure, ask questions, never restate their words; decline to author the\ngroup statement) means its influence on the story layer is **indirect and double**:\n\n1. **Selection**: it changes which stories *survive contact with their own premises* — a story\n   whose load-bearing claim is visibly refuted in the graph loses its warrant in a checkable way,\n   and (the teeth line from the Swedish invitation copy) a story you do not structure gets retold\n   by someone else in the version that suits them.\n2. **Supply**: it makes new stories *findable* — the reframing that persuades the other worldview,\n   the non-zero-sum arrangement nobody had articulated, the crux that turns a stale conflict story\n   into a resolvable-question story.\n\nHaraway's essay (read the same day — [cyborg-manifesto-and-the-harness.md](cyborg-manifesto-and-the-harness.md))\nends by reifying **writing and storytelling as the cyborg's own act**; the same-day convergence is\nworth one line: three unrelated sources — a Swedish folkbildning article, a 1985 feminist manifesto,\nand the founder's own framing — all land on narrative as the layer where structural change becomes\ncultural change.\n\n## 5. What this changes, concretely (session assertions, unruled)\n\n- The **outreach vocabulary** gains a register: for change-leadership and folkbildning audiences\n  (Sensus is exactly that world, and a Swedish one), the pitch translates as *infrastructure for\n  the stories a group can honestly tell together* — closer to their vocabulary than \"claim graph\"\n  will ever be, and a candidate bridge audience the incentives analysis has not mapped.\n- The **worldview-lens roadmap** gets a sharper purpose-statement: a lens is a story-renderer over\n  a shared claim-structure; the moral-reframing literature is its evidence base.\n- A **watched hazard, named**: if the platform ever generates narrative renderings of graph regions\n  (a tempting feature), the steering result applies at full force — rendering IS restating, so any\n  such surface inherits the mid-conversation design rule (structure and questions, never their\n  words) or it becomes the manufacturing plant for the very convergence-illusion the instruments\n  watch for.\n\n---\n\nCross-references: [worldview-lenses.md](../worldview-lenses.md) ·\n[non-zero-sum-economics-and-civilizational-cooperation.md](non-zero-sum-economics-and-civilizational-cooperation.md) ·\n[the-scrutiny-gap.md](the-scrutiny-gap.md) · [live-election-test-design.md](live-election-test-design.md)\n(the invitation copy's teeth line is this doc's selection mechanism in one sentence) ·\n[cyborg-manifesto-and-the-harness.md](cyborg-manifesto-and-the-harness.md)\n"}
